Their approach to story is also completely different, Ib has a conventional story with a defined plotline, and on the flipside Yume Nikki's "story" is only implied and filtered through the player's interpretation of Madotsuki's dreams. The two games are pretty much different genres, Ib being an adventure game baring similarities to point-and-click games, while Yume Nikki is almost purely an exploration game with little-to-no puzzles.
